Slate ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Slate mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:

• Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage information such as which games you listen to and how long you use the App. This helps us improve the service.
• Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
• Subscription Information: If you subscribe to Slate Pro, your payment is processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card information. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or other personal identifiers unless you contact us for support.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the App's functionality, including live NBA and MLB play-by-play audio.
• To manage your subscription and provide access to premium features.
• To improve the App's performance and user experience.
• To respond to support requests.

Sports Data

The App delivers real-time play-by-play audio for NBA and MLB games. To provide this feature, our servers retrieve publicly available game data — including scores, play descriptions, and game situation details — from a third-party sports data provider. This data relates entirely to sporting events and contains no personal information about our users. We use this data solely to generate audio narration within the App.

Third-Party Services

Our App uses the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store: Handles subscription payments and management. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription status. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI: Generates text-to-speech audio for play-by-play narration. Play description text (e.g. "John Smith hits a home run") is sent to OpenAI's API solely to produce audio. No personal user information is included in these requests. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• BallDontLie: Provides live NBA and MLB game scores, schedules, and play-by-play data. No personal user information is shared with BallDontLie; only game-related queries are made to their API. Subject to BallDontLie's website.

Data Retention

Usage data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service and improve the App. You may request deletion of any data associated with your device by contacting us.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect information transmitted through the App. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date.
